About Karen Penfold
Karen is the co-founder of the brand, Four Daughters Beef, and is a passionate advocate for rural Australia. She sees the need to connect city and country with food and fibre origins, especially through social media and community engagement.
Karen was born in Brisbane, was a primary physical education teacher and small school principal before marrying into an agricultural family business 30 years ago.
Karen is dedicated to her family business, along with her husband Dan and four daughters they have exported beef under their Four Daughters brand to China. They have had to navigate processing, the export supply chain and international logistics.
As they look to grow their business for the next generation, sustainability is a focus. Measuring their carbon baseline and educating themselves on the impacts of this going forward is a key priority for their family long term business growth.
Karen lives in Western Queensland and believes education is key to influence others. Social media is a tool to help engage and bridge the gap. Karen is available to talk on topics of family, rural life, female founder journey, agriculture and sustainability and succession. She is available to MC/ Event Host and is open to speaking opportunities on topic request.
